Suburban Cartoons For Everyone!

I did these little 18×24 paintings last week. I am trying to remember what I saw when I was a kid in the ‘burbs, with a lot of time and nothing to do. I am noticing that what I remember at this point is women my parents age who could potentially give me food. Maybe [...]

I Like Cartoons

And as long as the hot wet blanket of August makes it hard for me to slap paint, I’m going to do the most funnest thing I can– paint cartoons. Cartoons about suburbia when I was a sunbelt teenager.

And Now, A Young Woman Riding A Bike

Against a wall of flowers, no less. The photo-reference I used must be from last winter, because you sure aren’t going to catch anybody riding a bike in long pants in spring or summer on the Gulf coast of Florida. I am not hugely organized as regards my photo references, which adds mystery to the [...]

Urban Mutt Painting

I am trying to keep up with my less-than-prolific output of artwork, which should be no problem, but I keep forgetting to bring the camera down to the gallery where I do a lot of work. This is a rework of a painting I did that sold some time ago; everybody liked it so much [...]

Painting In Public At Interior Motives Gallery

Being a cool, hungover guy in front of the 2500 square foot apartment I shared for 250 bucks in 1993-1994 on around SE 15th and SE Belmont in Portland, OR.

Don’t do drugs, kids! Get high on Pendletons.

A Steamy Lake In The Tampa Bay Area of Florida

And how seasonally appropriate! Ok, it’s Crescent Lake, St Pete, which is about 3 blocks from my house. I have already admitted I never go anywhere. It’s too hot, and the bugs! Don’t get me started. I’m cranky when I sweat.

22×30. acrylic on paper, available at Interior Motives Gallery or from Seven North.

Tampa Art Show “Art For A Cure” Summificationary Text

Last Friday and Saturday I attended Art for a Cure, an event which featured Caleb, Carolina Cleere, Lori Ballard, Emily Page, Jack Breit, Donna Morrison, Rick Reeves, Jason Fondren and others was well attended and profitable for several of the artists (I sold a big oil on masonite– yah!), as well as the Pediatric Cancer [...]
