Tampa Art Show “Art For A Cure” Summificationary Text

Last Friday and Saturday I attended Art for a Cure, an event which featured Caleb, Carolina Cleere, Lori Ballard, Emily Page, Jack Breit, Donna Morrison, Rick Reeves, Jason Fondren and others was well attended and profitable for several of the artists (I sold a big oil on masonite– yah!), as well as the Pediatric Cancer Foundation, to which a portion of the proceeds (15%) were donated. The Big Cournoyer of Seven North took a bunch of photos, a few of which appear below.

I thank Megan Voeller of Artsqueeze, for providing the highest-profile notification for the event, which was otherwise underpromoted. This was not the fault of local media, which hungers and thirsts for cut-and-paste upcoming-events notification, but of those responsible for promoting this show. There’s this thing called the interwebs, see, and although it’s a series of tubes, it can be useful for getting ‘er done.

Caleb, you knew about the show for 2 months, you were sent the digital version of the invitation to post and send out 2 weeks before the show. Why did you wait till the day before the show to post anything on your own website to help promote it. You did not come to the artists meeting before the show to see the space and pick where you wanted to be. And then to top it off your the first one to leave before the show was over.

Uhm, did I miss the part where I was hired to promote the show? It is unfortunate that you disagree with my evaluation, but there you are. People disagree.
